Five-Day S-Series Maintenance Course
Revised to include more hands-on learning and troubleshooting time, the S-Series Maintenance course has been expanded to five days in length. The course is a combination of the former S-Series Basic Maintenance and Advanced Electronics courses.
Designed to train service technicians on troubleshooting and repair of the Oshkosh S-Series vehicle, our instructors strive to use hands-on training in the shop whenever possible. Skills exercises provide a practical and dynamic learning experience for both new and seasoned service technicians. And, with a course load of only 12 students, they'll receive personalized attention from the instructor.
Course topics include: Vehicle configuration, electrical, hydraulic, and air theory, system components and function, troubleshooting analysis, schematic reading, preventative maintenance, circuits, drum drive system, chute controls, diagnostic tools and software.
The course also highlights the electronic interactions of Caterpillar and Cummins engines, Allison transmissions, anti-lock brake systems, drum controls, databus dash, and OEM systems as well as how these systems utilize J1939 databus communication. Emphasis is placed on how to read and interpret Oshkosh and vendor schematics to troubleshoot and repair. Electronic tools including Pro-link, hand-held data readers, multi-meters and computer based software will be used for hands-on troubleshooting.
